Connecticut Percussive Arts Society Feature

For the month of May, our drummer Chris, is featured in the Connecticut Percussive Arts Society's "CT Spotlight" series. Learn a little about him.

We have a new bassist!

We would like to welcome Wilhelmus Sapanaro to the Valence lineup. Hailing from New Jersey, Will has been in numerous projects and teaches many bass students both on upright bass and electric. We are super excited to have him on board and look forward to putting out more music with him. Stay tuned for some new Valence!

Metal Injection Feature

We are super stoked to announce that we made it into Metal Injection's '10 MORE Awesome Underground Bands You Need In Your Life' and they featured "The Depths" off of our debut, Sleepwalker. "Ever watch a band enjoy themselves so much while playing live, that their mood becomes infectious? That's pretty much what happened to me when I saw Valence perform a few weeks ago." - Frank Godla

They Like Us, They Really Like Us!

Hey everyone. Months ago we were awarded the best Metal/Hardcore song for the 14th annual competition for The Independent Music Awards. There was also a voting system for the public and we wanted to say THANKS for voting, because we were also awarded the Vox Populi as well, clearing the category.

About

Frequently cited as "the bee's knees" and "the cat's meow," Valence takes instrumental prog to new heights through their flirtations with modern metal and eclectic compositions. They're a breath of fresh air for anyone tired of music formulated to fit into a box, and longs for an unadulterated form of sonic expression. The band won an Independent Music Award for "The Reckoning," off of their 2014 EP, Laser Baron, the follow up to their debut Sleepwalker. Sea of Tranquility wrote, "If you love some of the acrobatic, complex, and heavy material of current acts like Scale the Summit, Between the Buried & Me, and Animals as Leaders, this is a band you need to check out." Metal Injection included Valence in their end of 2015 list "10 MORE Awesome Underground Bands You Need In Your Life!"

Between the awards and rave reviews, the band has developed a reputation as a crushing force in the north east, tri-state and the southern New York music scenes, playing the official after-parties for Dream Theater, Clutch and The Sword as well as opening for acts such as Consider the Source, Stu Hamm, Felix Martin, The Fine Constant, and Angel Vivaldi.

Bassist WilHelmus.! joined the band in Spring 2016, adding new elements as the band finishes writing and preproduction for their next epic full length album. In the meantime, Valence is set to release a new single, "He Tried To Kill Me With a Forklift," in Spring 2017. Valence is Michael Buonanno (gtr), Geoffrey Schaefer (gtr), Chris Romano (drms) and WilHelmus.! (bass).
